Born in London Our founder Joseph Le Pine worked as carpenter in the Australian colonies. The year was 1891 when Joseph created J. R. Le Pine and Sons in Richmond. In the beginning it was normal for coffins made by cabinet makers, carpenters or other similar craftsmen. Joseph employed his carpenter talents to construct coffins, and would aid families in making funeral arrangements. This was also a common thing for manufacturers in the past.

The year 2005 was the time that Le Pine Funerals conducted the state funeral for WW1 former Lieutenant William Evan Crawford Allan. Lieutenant Allan was Australia’s only living combat veteran from WW1 and was paid a tribute by the awe-inspiring HMAS Cerberus in the Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. More than 1,000 military personnel were on hand to support the gun carriage as it carried his flag-draped funeral in the solemn 1km. In honor of an individual who held this unique spot in the history of mankind and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to organize ceremonies that showed the immense appreciation felt by an entire nation.

Recently, the Le Pine team was entrusted to organize a funeral for one of the most loved entertainers in Australia Bert Newton AM MBE. Bert Newton AM MBE. The tributes were delivered by the Prime Minister Dan Andrews and Eddie McGuire prior to a complete Requiem Mass was held at St Patrick’s Cathedral. The wife of his late husband, Patti was able to release doves together with her family after the hearse was taken away from the Cathedral. The COVID-19 regulations meant that just 500 mourners could be present on the day, however the funeral was live-streamed around the world and live broadcast on Channels 7 9, and 10.
